Midian offers many fields and wooded areas for camping, along with a creek and several shelters. The retreat will have port-o-let toilets, and a hot shower area.

We ask that all of our guests bring their own food, and enough personal supplies to be self sufficient. All participants in workshops are welcome to bring snacks and drinks along. We will have a pitch-in dinner on Friday night.

Rules of the Land

Please, no firearms, illegal drugs, or alcoholic beverages not intended for personal consumption. Visitors to Midian will be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival. No hunting, fishing, or foraging. Keep your camp area cleared of trash and clutter. No cigarette butts or other debris is to be tossed on any part of the grounds. Glass is not allowed outside of personal campsites. Please decant all beverages you will be bringing to public areas into plastic containers. Plan to remove your own trash from your campsite when you leave Midian. We strongly encourage you to bring a majority of what will become trash in paper form as this can be burned on site. Recycling for glass, plastic, paper & aluminum is available on-site.

Internet Service

Currently there is no public Internet service at Midian.

Cell Phones

Cell Phone use is discouraged during the retreat except for in emergency situations.

Ice and firewood are available for sale on site.

Camping Early or Staying Late

Please contact us if you plan to arrive early or stay late.

Weather is notoriously unpredictable in the Midwest, but past experience at the retreat has taught us that you should plan for all types of weather: hot & dry, hot & wet, cold & dry, and cold & wet. Be sure that your tent/shelter is waterproofed, and dress in layers. Keep extra clothes or bedding in a waterproof container. Bring an extra towel!
